Can you believe its November?
After one of the driest and hottest Octobers on record, the temps are finally falling (along with some much needed moisture), making it a great time to get out the Fall jacket and get together with friends. After all, that’s what we’re all about around here at Primetime.
October saw movies, concerts, happy hours, hikes, eclipse gazing, book clubs, game nights, and even educational talks. One thing about this group…we really like to mix things up.
Had to postpone our Halloween Spooktacular because of much needed rain, but we’re having it this Friday with much cooler and much better weather. Can anyone say s’mores? As usual, there will be lots of surprises, and even a few I couldn’t have done last week due to the threatened weather. Should work out all the way around. Can’t wait to see your costumes, optional as they are.
I’d like to highlight two events coming up this month. The first is (of course) the MUSIC, MAYHEM, & MURDER FALL GALA coming up on Sunday, November 19, a kind of immersive theater experience masquerading as a dinner, concert and party. I can’t be there because of my out of town obligations, but the rest of the organizers have been hard at work on it for weeks. Should be interesting, and as of this writing there’s still some tickets left. Here’s the event posting.

The second event I want to draw your attention to is the annual free WALLER CREEK ART INSTALLATION SHOW. Since 2014, Waterloo Greenway has commissioned site-specific work by Austin-based artists, architects, designers, and landscape architects chosen through a public Call for Ideas hosted in collaboration with AIA Austin. Artists explore different themes related to Waller Creek that range from history to hydrology and beyond. In addition to six new light-based art installations, Creek Show 2023 will feature free activities each evening at Waterloo Park, including nightly live music, food & beverages, and family-friendly fun.
Unlike previous years, you are no longer required to reserve the free tickets online as long as there is capacity. However, if you do want to not wait in line or want to guarantee your place, the website does sell “Fast Passes” for $10.
Patti has scheduled Tuesday, November 14 on Meetup as our date to go, and I plan on being there. It’s an awesome way to spend a few hours before the holiday madness begins, and all proceeds benefit the Waterloo Greenway Park.

Meanwhile the craziness of the holidays is on its way. Be looking for lots of fun stuff coming up in December. Although I’m probably taking the rest of November off after the Spooktacular (other than hopefully attending some of your events during the week) I’m looking into some fun surprises for December, as well as the probable return of our PRIMETIME CINEMA OBSCURA NIGHTS in either December of January.
