Happy Fall, PrimeTimers! I’m sure you are all as relieved as I am that the dog days of summer are behind us at last! I hope you were able to find some places to “keep your cool” during the last few months. Thankfully, our PrimeTime Event Organizers were able to keep us busy with a variety of events and activities that could take our minds off the triple digits. We are grateful to all of our EOs, but here are a few shout-outs with more to follow.
Ina hosted two Sundays of “Gospel Brunch” with the Purgatory Players at El Mercado. If you missed these, be sure to catch the next one ~ the food is great and the music is second to none!
Gary has been leading weekend hikes around Zilker Park every weekend for eons???
Anne Gregory, Miki and Lynn C hosted magazine and book discussions via zoom. Miki has also been venturing out and hosting Sunday lunches at various restaurants. Check it out!
Greg Emil raised our cultural awareness by taking us to the AFS Cinema.
Clare B hosted monthly dinners at Hank’s ~ you’ve got to sign up early, though if you want to attend!
CONGRATULATIONS TO the PrimeTime Trivia team that took first place once again! Special thanks to Nancy Purcell who has been a driving force that has helped keep our team going every Tuesday for three years now! It’s not often (but also not unusual) that we take first place, and it is not uncommon for us to place second, third or “just out of the money,” which is not bad when you consider that there are about 30 teams competing! There are about 8 of us who are “original” team members and several more who rotate in regularly, but ALL PrimeTimers are invited to join us whenever you can! Win or lose, it’s always a fun time! When we have too many for one team, we divide up, but work together. Who knows? One of these days we may tie for first place!

Volunteer Opportunity Submitted by Hilary Mears Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to fill the immediate need for 22 routes that opened up after many of our seasonal volunteers went Back to School. You can help us by sharing this email with your family & friends, and encouraging them to join the Meals on Wheels Central Texas Volunteer Team. Ring of Fire Eclipse: Johnny Cash certainly made the ‘Ring of Fire’ famous, but if you’re interested, the actual event will be occurring in our own backyard with 100% total eclipse viewing in the Corpus Christi and Mustang Island area. Now whether you pride yourself as an amateur astronomer, or you just like looking at awesome events, please join Louise, Greg and Barbara at the Mustang Island State Park on the morning of the eclipse to get a good look – weather permitting.
The intrepid group of PrimeTime astronomers can spend sometime at the beach, and then have a lovely late afternoon lunch at one of the great restaurants nearby (TBD).
Make your own advanced reservations at the Mustang Island State Park for parking/day ($5 per person) They also have campsites, or you might consider carpooling and sharing a room for the night. So, get some friends together and carpool down to join us for the “Ring of Fire!”
