One of the “advantages” of living in Austin is that you really come to appreciate Spring and Fall. Because if you blink, they’re gone.
Don’t blink.
Spring has sprung in Texas. Buds are popping on the trees. I’m chasing birds off my porch to keep them from building nests. And my new hummingbird feeder is ready to be filled and hung. It’s time to get back outside and enjoy nature in all its glory. But since this is Texas, make sure you pack your jacket with your swimsuit.
Last month was another busy one for Primetimers, with happy hours, concerts, hikes, game and trivia nights, live theater nights, and Super Bowl parties. Some of us even took a trip to Niagara Falls with Marilyn Monroe.

But now its time to open up the windows and let the sun shine in before we’re all griping about the heat. March already has several events on the calendar, and soon I’ll be posting a return of the Primetime Backyard Drive-In Movie Night for our third season. Details coming soon. I always like surprises for our opening night.

But in honor of the Spring I’d really like to emphasize the regular outdoor events that are as much a part of Primetime as anything else. There are already no fewer than twelve hikes on the calendar in March, ranging from the slower walks around Town Lake to the more aggressive, cardio-strengthening sojourns in the Barton Creek Greenbelt. Whether you can make one of these or you have your own favorite path to walk, I certainly hope you’ll invite or join other Primetimers. The world simply looks different and more sane from nature’s path, and that is almost always better with a friend. After all…that’s what this is all supposed to be about.
If you’d like to share your favorite walk with others, but don’t quite know how to navigate the Meetup site, just ask one of the other event organizers. We’ll get you set up.
By the way…one of my favorite holidays of the year is looking really lonely on the calendar right now. Any Irish people want to celebrate?
Keep chugging Primetimers.
