September 2022

Is that a slight nip we’re feeling in the air?

Welcome to September Primetimers, and hopefully goodbye to the record heat that’s been keeping us inside clinging to our air conditioning vents. It’s been a heckuva year, but it’s time to get back out there, restore old connections, and make some new ones.

It’s time for Primetime.

We’ve got so much cool stuff coming up on the calendar, but there’s always room for many more. What keeps Primetime special is our eclectic event hosts and the variety of our interests. From dinners, happy hours, trivia and game nights, music, and movie nights to hikes, museums, and  mini TED Talks, there’s always something new and different coming up. The only thing that’s missing is you. I’ll bet every member of Primetime knows of something cool coming up around Austin that it might be fun to take a group of friends to.

A great example comes up on September 24 when Jim & Judi Burke are hosting an outing to see one of the finest and most unique events Austin has to offer – an “Aerial Art” performance by the Blue Lapis Light dance group high above the audience from the now de-commissioned smokestacks at the Seaholm Power Plant. It’s part ballet, part digital art, and part Cirque de Solei. It was also one of the most breathtaking and magical nights of performance I’ve ever had the pleasure to see in Austin when they last did it several years ago. Tickets go fast, so see the event page for details. I’m out of town that weekend, or I would join you. As it is, I’ll just be jealous. https://www.meetup.com/primetimeatx/events/287939799/

The point is that the easiest way to help this community is by agreeing to host an event for something you were planning on going to anyway. If you’re worried about the technical stuff, don’t be. We’ll be glad to help you, and chances are one of the more experienced hosts will even co-host with you. Just ask. It’s fun. It’s a great way to meet new people. And it’s absolutely the best way to give back to this group.

Speaking of cool stuff coming up, you should have received an email about the revival of one of PrimeTime’s most popular events – our Mini TEDTalks, which will start again soon. Jeffrey is organizing and hosting this at a new, cool location on October 23.

He’s looking for speakers and topics, so if you’re interested just drop him a line at angelo009@aol.com.

One last thing — Did you know that PrimeTime has a Facebook group? We do, and sometimes its the preferred way for folks to post pictures from events. If you’re not a member, request access at:

Look forward to enjoying that Fall weather with you. We’ll see you soon.
