Happy February, Everyone!
Well, we’ve made it through a Level 5 January—has there ever been a longer one? Now, here we are in February, and I already feel like I’ve been living in “Groundhog Day” for nearly two years!” Here’s hoping we start moving up soon!
The good news is that your PrimeTime Leadership Team is more than ready to get additional events on our calendar, but we are also doing our best to make sure that posted events are safe for our members—either outdoors or indoors and socially distanced for vaxed members and guests. Our small-group dinner events are growing in popularity and fill up quickly. If you would like to host at one of your favorite restaurants for 6-10 people, any Event Organizer or Leadership Team member will gladly help you.
Speaking of the Leadership Team, we are happy to announce that we have added two new members who we think will be wonderful assets to our team: Andy Jackson and Gregg Perry. Both men are outgoing, well-liked event organizers in our community, and we know that they bring experience and enthusiasm as well as a fresh perspective to our team. Be sure to offer them your congratulations and thanks!
Despite our current situation, we know that “this too shall pass,” so we have optimistically begun making plans for the Volunteer Appreciation party for those who helped with the holiday gala and for our annual Spring Fling! The volunteer party is scheduled for the afternoon of March 19, so if you signed up to help with the decorating, set-up or greeting committee, be sure to mark that date on your calendar. Details as to time and place will follow. We are still exploring options for the Spring Fling, and will let you know as soon as we have set the date and the place! If you have or know of an outdoor space that will accommodate at least 50 people, please let us know!
We are also planning something special for our Event Organizers! We recognize and appreciate the important role they play in getting events onto our calendar, and we want to hit the ground running as soon as we are out of level 5. We were an amazingly prolific group B.C. with a large variety of activities and I can’t wait to get back to the way we were … or better!
SPECIAL SHOUT OUTS and thanks to:
BOB HYMSON, one of our newest Event Organizers who has been hosting dinners and hikes galore! Way to get our people out there and “doing,” Bob! Member alert: you need to make those RSVPs quickly—spaces fill up fast!
GREG E who is well known as “the movie guy” of pre-COVID days, has become our “Morning Jolt” guru for the better part of the past two years! Greg has provided an almost daily morning conversation via Zoom to PrimeTimers in Austin and beyond! Now that’s making connections, Greg!
GREG SMITH who has kept us reading, thinking and discussing a variety of books and magazines even before COVID began! No matter where Greg finds himself, from home in Austin, to traveling on the road, he makes himself available to us through Zoom. He leads us in thought-provoking, humor-infused discussions about our “takes” on what we’ve read as we exchange ideas and get to know each other better!
NANCY who has been hosting a popular series of in-home movie nights, is also beginning a new search for the best coffee in Austin. Great conversations always flow with coffee, so you might want to join her “Coffee Nomads” or begin a search of your own!
Take care, stay safe and be healthy!
Hope to see y’all soon!
Louise
