March 2024

Go maire bhur laethanta fada agus bhur gcuid trioblóidí gann, Primetimers!

This is truly one of my favorite months of the year. Spring is trying to spring. Temperatures are rising, but its not yet summer heat. And of course, there’s St. Paddy’s day, one of the best excuses I can think of to meet with friends, maybe have Guinness or two (if that’s your thing), and view the world through emerald-tinted glasses.

It’s also time to start peeking our heads outside and enjoying all that Central Texas has to offer. We’ll be doing that in my backyard at the end of the month with the return of our popular Backyard Movie Series on March 29 (https://www.meetup.com/primetimeatx/events/299485238/). There will be surprises as befitting our kickoff event, so hope you can make it.

But there’s so many other cool things happening this month. On Saturday March 16 you can join our newly-minted Co-Organizer Patty as she hosts the Bluebonnet Air Show out in Burnet. I’ve actually been to this show many times (my ex- is a pilot and on the Airport Board out there), and it really is quite spectacular. There is a movement right now to move the Highland Lakes Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force installation from the Burnet Airport to elsewhere, so its unknown how many more years this air show will be in Burnet. This might be one of your last chances to see it close, and I highly recommend this fun event.

By the way–I have had a request from the event hosts to make sure you read the entire event posting when deciding whether to come, what to bring, and what to expect. I for one always put critical information in those event postings, and continue to do so almost every day in the discussion forum up to the day of the event. Just makes things easier for us. And thank you.

And as I mentioned, we want to welcome Patty as our new co-organizer for Primetime. I’m sure many of you have already met her at some of her cool events recently, and it doesn’t look like she’s going to slow down this month. So when you see her, welcome her to the leadership team and thank her for her service to this community. It means a lot to us.

Till then, keep on truckin’, Primetimers!

Gregg, on behalf of Louise, Andy, Barbara and Patty
